“Does the rising amount spent on IT maintenance come at the expense of innovation?

As IT budgets are increasingly spent on maintenance of existing systems, spending earmarked for new projects and innovative technologies is getting squeezed. If the current trends persist, the rate of innovation could slow markedly over the next ten years.
